• Improving Construction OSHA 10 Training 

       INSTRUCTION SHEET 

      Thank you for considering utilizing the curriculum that we developed for use in your Construction OSHA 10 training.  We have developed new and revised existing curriculum based on several years of evaluation, interviews, surveys and focus groups with Construction OSHA 10 trainers and students. The curriculum included here addresses the mandatory topics that are required as part of delivering the Construction OSHA 10 and they have been developed to meet the learning objectives set forth by OSHA. What follows are the instructions for how we would prefer that you use the curriculum along with the pre and post surveys.       STEP 1:  Download the curriculum and lesson plans from this site, review the curriculum and lesson plans prior to delivery. What we have done is embedded into the slide presentations, guided interactive activities (workshops, case studies, exercises, and demonstrations that involve student participation and interaction)  that will prompt both the trainer and the students on how to complete the activities. Within each topic there are up to 3 separate hands-on activities that you can choose to use based on time and class size.    

       

      STEP 2:  Help us collect data from students so we can evaluate their safety knowledge. You will do this by having students take a 10-15 minute “OSHA 10 PRE TRAINING QUESTIONNAIRE” on day one, prior to doing any teaching, AND after the entire training has been completed have them complete the “OSHA 10 POST TRAINING QUESTIONNAIRE” and the “OSHA 10 STUDENT SATISFACTION SURVEY.” Explaining the process to students and having them complete the questionnaire should take about 20 minutes of class time at the start and end of the course. 

      Please use the provided “Power Point Slides for Construction OSHA 10 Students” to assist you in informing the students on what we are doing as well as provide them a weblink and QR code to the PRE and POST Questionnaire as well as the Satisfaction Survey.  When discussing the study, please emphasize the fact that students’ answers are anonymous and their participation has nothing to do with receiving their OSHA 10 card. 

       

      STEP 3:  Submit the 15-20 minute  “OSHA 10 TRAINER QUESTIONNAIRE” after each OSHA 10 you deliver utilizing the curriculum provided here.  This questionnaire collects information about the teaching approaches you used in each of the trainings. Please fill these out no later than 24 hours after finishing each training so that the information is fresh in your mind. OSHA 10 Hour Construction

Overview 

The following modules (Introduction to OSHA, Focus Four, Health Hazards, and Personal Protective Equipment) represent the required topics for all 10 and 30hr construction outreach programs. It is the intent of these training materials to supplement OSHA’s curriculum as provided by OSHA on their website.
